manonrun

My answer to Lauper’s “Girls Just wanna have fun” which I played over and over last year but couldn’t get into. Back then there was a sports bar called “Coaches” (still is), I have not been there for a long time since they went UFC, but that place is what I think of when I sing this song....but its actually inspired initially by a guy name Ted.

(i) Clayton Weimer 2009

Found myself a bar, bought myself a beer
Look around to and fro, looks like the coast is clear
Bought myself another, not I’m feeling fine
My team just scored up on the screen, that girl she’s looking fine
I’m a man on the run.
Broke myself some dollars, bought myself some songs
Don’t want to sound to petty but free fall’s where my heart belongs
Now I feel the rhythm, now I feel the flow
She comes up to me, now, where do I want to go.
I’m a man on the run.
Found myself a highway, still weigh a load,
lets see what down that next exit
at the end of the road.

    ObamaMan

This is to the tune of Charlie Rich’s “Mohair Sam”. , the song that Elvis was playing on a bass in front of a TV when the Beatles came by to meet him. So I was just playing around, watching MSNBC going gaga for Obama, and figured, awe what the heck.   I just recorded it, DBO (day before obama)…

Hey someone should put this to video and post to youtube, should be a hit.

I figure there will be one day when they’ll be digging and they’ll find my bone
and the Foreman will look down and say “Hey boy’s why not just leave it alone…

I got this pretty woman back in town I’ve been thinking about all week
and this weekend don’t what nothing to keep me from kissing that cheek”

So save it for Monday, its been a long week and a long day
and its Friday maybe by Monday it will just go away

Now me too got a woman, always on my mind when slaving away
But sometimes I get home mean and tired and regret what I say
So she says to me “we gotta talk about our compatibility
I’ve been meaning to tell you something all week and its been grieving me”

    So I say
Save it for Monday, its been a long week and a long day
and its Friday maybe by Monday it will just go away

So I get home there’s some bills and a letter from the Fed
I throw them all away ’cause some words are colored in red
Yeah that’s my philosophy, after a long week blow off bad news
‘Cause weekends are meant for drinkin, and singin, and dancing away the blues

So save it for Monday, when its been a long week and a long day
and its Friday maybe by Monday it will just go away
